A lot of quality drawings would be thrown away at Providence Children’s Museum if I didn’t rescue them. Who deserves credit for this collage? Am I evil for constructing it? Do great artists steal from children?

This past weekend I participated in an event called the Global Game Jam, a 48-hour marathon during which small teams must create a playable videogame—from scratch. Our entry, entitled Quest for Stick, is a platformer/puzzle game in which you must use mystical powers to guide a Shaman through the level to recover his rain-stick. It is available to download on the Game Jam website, and there is also a gameplay video up on YouTube, so I hope you will check it out!

My contribution to the project was entirely in audio this time around. I had never done composition or sound design before, but it was a great opportunity to learn in a trial-by-fire setting. I will be posting the music on my blog soon, and will make a note here when it is available.

Alas, I DO care!  I’ve been drawing piles of dogs, inspired by the piles of trash and excess of dogs in New York City, where I am currently living.  I’ve been googling images (à la Jay) of dogs sleeping and combining and reformulating them in my drawings.  I’d like to potentially make dog pile paintings.

Lastly, I apologize for the poor documentation.

Hi all- have just graduated only to find that nobody cares… shockeroo…. Nonetheless, here is a shot of my honors show, an enormous foam-board triumphal arch which I upholstered with a quilt whose panels track my daily life- pie charts of how I spend time in classes, maps of where I walk in one day, etc. My goal was to use up as many of my sewing and art supplies as I could before graduation.

The Arc is 9 feet tall by 8 feet wide by 4 feet deep. Some materials included: neck ties, glitter, old t-shirts, acrylics, watercolor, gouache, pencil, marker, yarn, thread, floss, beads, pom-poms, Elmer’s, plastic dinosaurs, condoms, tooth brushes, buttons, zippers, bows, christmas tree ornaments, felt, sequins, fabric paint, photographs, dried and pressed leaves, old receipts, textiles.

Y’all – I made two videos that, together, constitute a web pilot for a new series I’m starting. A la Matthew Barney, I’ve also made some portraiture based off the main characters. Some day I’d like to see these printed huge! Until then, check out the videos here: www.tornperspective.com

This drawing is based on imagery from dreams during the course of a week.  In one dream the word Lince appeared, which I later discovered is a section of town in Lima, Peru; a type of machine gun, and spanish for ‘lynx’.

I’ve been trying to figure out how to incorporate my dreams into my art practice for some time.  Recently I was reading Jim Shaw’s book ‘Dreams’ and found myself thinking about how I would have handled presenting my dreams differently.  The result is this painting.  On the far left side just above the sillouhetted space needle you’ll notice my crude rendition of part of List.  Special thanks to Jonathan Barofsky, Jim Shaw, and Luis Bunuel.

this is a little drawing i did for a book coming out called “Isis”.  i didn’t get the illustration stint, but felt like sharing.  it’s a creepy story about death and incest.

jay, i thought a lot about filling negative space with big shadows.
